Testimonials
Real words from real people we've walked with.
Every story is different — but each one is a reminder that healing is possible, and you never have to go it alone. Here’s what some of our clients have shared about their journey with Safe Space counselling:
"I’ve seen therapists before, but nothing felt as intentional and warm as Safe Space"
Monica came offering voluntary counselling to a service I was working with. We specialised in children, teenagers and young adults experiencing mental and emotional health issues. I was immediately struck by Monica's genuine wish to learn about counselling and people. Monica's natural gifts of kindness, gentleness and honesty, brought young people back to further sessions after having met her. Monica was quickly able to turn these natural qualities into unconditional positive regard, congruence and empathy as tools for counselling. Monica took her training seriously and during supervision demonstrated understanding of humanistic theory and how to enable our client group to further self awareness and realize potential.
Over the years since that time Monica has worked with all ages, communities and walks of life, bringing the experience of life and the knowledge of theory together to offer confidential counselling to those who need it.

"It felt like Safe Space Counseling understood me before I even said a word"
I didn’t need more advice — I needed someone to hold space while I untangled what I’d been holding inside. My sessions were patient, intuitive, and met me where I was. I cried more than I expected, but that was part of the healing. There was no pressure to fix it all, just the confidence that I was safe to be myself. For the first time, I didn’t feel like I had to explain my pain — it was simply allowed to exist. Safe Space Counseling gave me permission to heal at my own pace, and that changed everything.

"Safe Space Counseling helped me build a life that feels like mine again"
I was navigating grief, identity, and loneliness after my divorce. I didn’t want to be told what to do — I wanted to feel like someone understood. Safe Space gave me that space. Now I’m making choices rooted in clarity instead of fear. It’s been powerful, to say the least.

"I finally feel like I belong somewhere — even within myself"
From the very first call, I felt like I was being met with presence, not just professionalism. My therapist didn’t just listen — she got it. She held space for everything I was carrying, and slowly, I began to feel safe in my own body again. Safe Space gave me the support I didn’t even know I needed. I’m not just surviving anymore — I’m living.

"It helped me feel human again"
Burnout crept in slowly until I couldn’t function. I didn’t even know what I needed anymore. Safe Space gave me language for what I was feeling, and the support to rebuild my sense of self. I’m now living with more compassion — not just for others, but finally, for myself too.
